Donation
Bourn Hall has a number of initiatives to help couples who need donated sperm or eggs in order to have a child through fertility treatment.
What is Sperm Donation?
The Clinic has established its own highly successful sperm bank. It welcomes healthy volunteers to donate sperm which is assessed and frozen. Donors need to be between 18 and 45 years and in good health.
What is Sperm Sharing?
Where couples are coming for treatment at Bourn Hall and the man has a particularly healthy sperm count, it may be possible in some circumstances to participate in a sperm sharing programme and receive free treatment.
What is Egg Donation?
Egg donors are also required by the Clinic and to participate as an altruistic donor women must be between 18 and 35 and ideally have completed their families or have decided not to have children. Many donors say that they have personal knowledge of someone who is waiting for an egg donation.
What is Egg Sharing?
Some egg donors are women that are going through IVF and have produced sufficient eggs for these to be shared with another patient. The egg sharer in these situations has free treatment and the joy of helping another couple create a family. All donors are offered free full counselling.
