Bourn Hall Clinic

Our Clinics

The world’s first IVF clinic was established in the pretty Cambridgeshire village of Bourn by the IVF pioneers Patrick Steptoe and Robert Edwards following the birth of the worlds first ‘test tube baby’ Louise Brown in 1978.

Bourn Hall itself is a Jacobean manor house with the addition of a purpose built modern fertility clinic during the 1980s. There is ample free parking and 22 acres of park land giving a feeling of a country estate, a calm sanctuary where patients receive the best possible treatment and care. We are not in a busy multi-purpose hospital, there is time and space for people here.

In 2009 Bourn Hall acquired the former Isis Fertility Centre in Colchester. This smaller more intimate clinic shares the same passion and vision to help people achieve their dream of having a family of their own. Our friendly clinic is dedicated entirely to fertility treatment and conveniently located on the Severalls Business Park, just off the A12 on the outskirts of Colchester, with plenty of free parking. The building has been specifically adapted and recently fitted out for fertility treatment and offers a warm welcome to patients.

In addition to the Cambridge and Colchester clinics, we also have outreach arrangements at the James Paget University Hospital in Great Yarmouth and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn. These outreach clinics are able to provide treatment up to and including egg collection for patients in their local area who can then visit Bourn Hall for the embryology and embryo transfer procedures.
