Matthew Slocombe (1985)
"Initially Patrick Steptoe rejected me for IVF because he was concerned that the needle used for egg collection would pierce my bowel," recalls Lynne. "But I literally wouldn't take 'no' for an answer."
"Before I could start IVF treatment at Bourn Hall my consultant had to operate to move my one good ovary into a position where it could be accessed without risk.
"My hospital consultant even had to draw a diagram for Steptoe so that he would know where to find the ovary!
"During my treatment, I stayed as an in patient at Bourn Hall for two weeks at a time. It was a remarkable time as it was all so new and exciting.
Matthew always knew about IVF's role in his conception. He is now 21 and studying law.
